Thinking Digitally
The Digital Humanities Center along with IMATS, the Center for Engaged Pedagogy, and the Barnard Library present the "Thinking Digitally" series, a way for professors to work through the ethics, practices, and goals of digital pedagogy. This series begins with a workshop for interested faculty and concludes with the Thinking Digitally Institute in May for a limited number of professors to develop their courses in a three day intensive workshop.
Thinking Digitally Series
In this introductory workshop, interested faculty can learn about digital projects at Barnard and discuss the possibilities and complications that come with digital pedagogy.
Goals:
- demonstrate past digital projects at Barnard
- deconstruct digital learning goals and assignments
- draft an assignment based on your curriculum or course
- discuss and share your questions in a collegial and friendly space
This hackathon expands upon our first workshop, paying close attention to the process involved in integrating digital projects into one's syllabus.
Goals:
- enhance existing courses with digital pedagogy
- consider the ethical parameters of the digital humanities
- connect digital research methodologies to your course
- create “Thinking Digitally” assignments and assessments
In this intensive workshop select faculty members can design or redesign their courses with large digital components. A $2,500 stipend for curriculum development will be awarded to participants as well as the opportunity to work individually with staff from the Digital Humanities Center, IMATS, the Center for Engaged Pedagogy, and the Barnard Library in digital pedagogy.
